Ausangate Alpacor® No-Peek Socks- Review

I  first heard of Ausangate Socks (I had to look up the pronunciation) on Facebook several months ago. I liked their page and started to learn more about the socks and great personality of the owner.

After having some really uncomfortable feet with blisters and soaking wet socks on the trail. I decided it was time to try something new.

Upon first arriving to my door my first impression of the socks was that of a sensory one. It was all about how soft to the touch they were right from the packaging. I also preferred the grey coloring versus the color options available with my wool counterpart.

The Ausangate socks are made with a unique blend of Alpacor® yarn. The Alpacor® yarn allows them to provide an incomparable breathability and wicking performance as to keep your feet dry and blister free. I chose the Ausangate No-Peek style by intent. It was summer and I knew I would be wearing shorts all season. The No-Peek style socks chosen were going to provide me with the fashion choice of keeping my sock hidden. That happens to be a big preference for me and wasn't available in any wool options I have found. After receiving the No-Peek socks and getting them paired with my Salomon SpeedCross 3 sneakers I was seriously concerned the backing of my shoes were a bit too high and would cause the socks to slip, rub or shift while in use and create friction. On the first hike I wore them I was certain I was going to be coming home with blisters on the back of my heels. To my surprise it never happened. I have yet to get blisters with these socks paired with any of my shoes. Another bonus to these socks would have to be the ribbed instep and arch. It truly keeps the sock in position while providing a perfect amount of natural compression for the foot. You can instantly tell the difference between this sock and other sock’s compression balance. Giving your feet a secure embraced feeling to intensify the comfort factor. After having my Ausangate socks for just a few weeks. I realized I was going to need several more pairs. Once you get your feet in these socks you can't help but want to wear them all the time.

Biggest pitfall to this product is simple. After wearing the No-Peek style socks for 18 hours or more your ankle receives an unpleasant pinched sensation that leaves a noticeable mark around the ankle. This uncomfortable feeling can last several hours but eventually goes away. This side effect has to be a direct example of how secure the ankle band really is and although it's works amazing for not causing blisters while in use. You cannot leave them on for overnight wear. I hope to try the Quarter Crew and Mid-Calf styles and see how they hold up to overnight wear.

Thank you for your review. In reference to the cuff being tight on the No-Peek socks we have made a slight change so that the socks do not pinch yet stay in place. Again, we appreciate your honest review.
