PrAna Women’s Monarch Convertible Pant Product Spotlight

We know outdoor apparel for women has come a long way since predecessor, Annie Peck, and many companies are working hard to zero-in on the needs of the female adventurer.

Why is it still so difficult to find a great pair of women’s hiking pants?

I often wonder after spending hours trying on hiking pants if men consistently have the same issues women have when shopping for a pair. Do they bunch, sag, pinch and just generally feel ill fitting? Leaving them looking like an encased sack of potatoes and feeling like they’re some rare body type? Do they really have to try on two-dozen pair to find one that fits, decently? I don’t have any of the answers to any of those questions… If you do we would love to hear them.

What I do have is my current favorite women’s Convertible Hiking Pant.

They are the first hiking pant to fit and feel like actual pants. The Zion Stretch fabric feels soft against your skin while containing water repellent properties. The waistline sits comfortably at a midrise with belt loops and a relaxed fit through the hips. They have a snap, zipper and drawstring closure. The convertible legs unzip for complete removal to assure comfort in high temps or rising waters. The length is awesome and fully fit over my boots. The PrAna Monarch Convertible Pant are sold in Short, Regular and Tall.

I’m 5’8” {I have the regular} with a high natural waistline, baby bearing hips and strong sets of quads & glutes. Getting a pair of hiking pants to fit comfortably has been a shot in the dark until now.

I’m really enjoying them to date. I wear them as the perfect pant for road trips, day hiking, backpacking and camping. With the look, feel and comfort of a nice fitting pant alongside the ultimate stretch of a legging these convertible hiking pants continue to seamlessly move as I do. You can wear them multiple days and still get near the same fit. I generally don’t use the drawstring until day two or three of hardcore backpacking.

The innovative stretch material is soft and seems to be water repellent as water beads up instead of soaking straight through. Yet you have no odd sounding noises follow you as you walk. I have the dark khaki color and the largest downfall is they show the dirt. But these are my go-to for hiking, backpacking, and camping, so getting dirty is essentially the goal. And although they show dirt during wear they have yet to show signs of staining. The PrAna Women’s Monarch Convertible Pant have been used for almost a year and I greatly need the other color options to add to my arsenal of outdoor apparel.
