Gear For Teens | The Gear Your Teen Wants | Mountain Matron

Teens aren’t typical and they don’t want typical gear. We believe creating a disconnection from every day life and cultivating a connection with nature doesn’t have to be all about smashing rocks to create fire or building shelter from leaves, and it really can be about comfort, too. We want to offer a few pieces of gear, tried, tested and approved by teens.

#1. Teton Sports #Blackout Backpack Series

The sleek lightweight design of these bold black backpacks not only look cool, they are cool. This backpack series by Teton Sports specifically offers teens independence from the ordinary colored backpacks on the market today. You’ll find Teton Sports carries multiple sizes in the #Blackout series, for day hikes to extreme expeditions.

#2. ENO Hammock

Your teen quit crawling years ago and they don’t necessarily want to crawl in and out of bed. Besides, a hammock is so easy to set up and generally lighter than a tent, the entire family may prefer it.

The teen will need their phone, iPod, or music device for the road, and if they carry a Smartphone, they’ll most likely use it for photos. You’re going to need to keep those devices juiced. The JUMPR STACK 3, does just that.

#4. LifeStraw GO Portable WaterBottle

This water bottle eliminates the need for the teen to sterilize and filter separately from filling the bottle. The LifeStraw GO is a leak-proof 23oz water bottle with integrated replaceable LifeStraw filter for one-step hydration.

#5. Helinox Chair One Camp Chair

A fabric and aluminum pole camp chair that’s packable and lightweight. This chair will arrive in its own carrying case for easy storage. It’s comfortable, lightweight, and easy to assemble.

#6. Knife

Something similar to the SOG Seal Pup Elite will be plenty. It may seem intimidating ( for you as the parent) at first, but with a little instruction of proper use, shouldn’t be too much to handle.

BONUS GIFT: GoPro® Hero Bundle

Not a single teenager surveyed could resist the urge to record their outdoor adventures.
