Dead Horse Ranch State Park | Hiking Arizona
Using the online registering for our cabin rental was extremely quick and efficient and the website shows immediate available options. Once there we took full opportunity of the park's scenic views and incredible sounds that accompany the Verde River. With our visit in February the large beautiful trees were bare, in the spring you will see blooms everywhere. Many of the trails surrounding the cabins were submerged with canopy after canopy of Willow, Mesquite and the Arizona Black Walnut trees.
This area is very unique to many of the other Arizona State Parks. At Dead Horse Ranch SP located in Cottonwood, Arizona you will find many camping options, including 8 single-room cabin rentals of which some are ADA accessible and pet friendly on the 423 acre piece of land. You will also find several ADA accessible fishing spots along the lagoons and under the ramada areas. This park offers an extensive equestrian trail system. Including the option for overnight corral use with prior arrangements. You can take the Lime Kiln Trail for the 15mile ride to Arizona’s Red Rock State Park. Within Dead Horse Ranch State Park you can enjoy the vast wildlife that depend on the Verde River for a sustained habitat. Including nearly 200 species of birds. Let's not forget about the many MTB trails to test your biking abilities.

Stay as long as possible this place is stunning and has so much to do. Bring your camera and always carry your map. If possible take the chance to see the Tuzigoot Monument near by in Clarkdale, Arizona. The elevation here is 3,300 feet in this area and offers great weather most of the year but can get up in temps during the summer months.
(The Month of February 2014 the Trail Horse Adventures were offering a $50 special for the 1.5 hour trail ride- (928-301-1201)
