Megan’s Mission: The Pacific Crest Trek for MS
So often we hear how Social Media can be harsh on the human soul and create a source of sorrow for so many and though that may be true in some cases I will always come to the defense that social media is what you make it. For me, I choose to make it a positive outlet for many purposes and I deeply hope that is the understanding I demonstrate. In subsequent proof and justification to that promise I would like to present to you a truly magical young lady named, Megan. I was thumbing through my Twitter feed when I came across this tweet-
Looking for more bloggers and websites to get the word out about my 2,650 mile hike for MS! #bloggerswanted
Megan’s tweet spoke to me and I clicked her posted link. I was immediately directed to her website and was able to view her message and mission. Her video brought me to tears. Her story and conviction captivated me and I can’t help but want to spread the word of her story and aspiration.
This year (2014) in April, Megan will be trekking the Pacific Crest Trail, from California to Canada completing 2.650 miles to raise awareness and funds for Muscular Dystrophy research. There currently is no cure for MS and Megan’s dream is to change that. Her father was diagnosed in the year 2000 and Megan knows first hand the havoc this disease reaps on those suffering with it. Megan has just begun her mission and will be checking in with us from the trail when she can. In the mean time the Mountain Matron Nation is opening their hearts and pocket books for this compassionate cause. The biggest hope Megan has is to raise a ton of money and even more awareness to this disease. She’s asking everyone who would like to join the fight to donate directly through her site. This will be a 4-6 month journey and is an intense task to take on. If you find yourself wanting to add some Trail Magic to her journey and make this young lady smile a bit wider along the way you can consider sending a care package to her at any of the PCT Resupply Stops. ( BIG thanks to Sarah at JabberWalk.net for this link!)
Take a quick 5-minutes today and click Megan’s donation link for easy step-by-step prompts to complete your commitment to the cause. Megan, her family and those suffering with this disease, thank you.
