Canyon Vista Campground comes complete with vault toilets, fire rings with a built-in grill, drinking water and a fee. With only 11 sites, the best outdoor climbing Flagstaff has to offer, and access to the 800-mile Arizona Trail this campground offers a few royalties. Spellbinding views inflicted from the rim of Walnut Canyon as the petrified Permian Age sand dunes reward your senses. The ridges and summits of the San Francisco Peaks tower above and as you rendezvous Coconino National Forest know you’re standing within the largest Ponderosa Pine forest of the world.

Do you climb?
Favoring Kaibab limestone “The Pit”, otherwise known as Le Petit Verdon, irrupted Arizona’s sport climbing in the 1980’s; with its riddled pockets and steep climate many still consider this prime Northern Arizona crag.

Drive south on Lake Mary Road for 5.5 miles, turn left into Canyon Vista Campground. Park in the gravel lot outside the gate with no fee, and follow the trail through the campground directly ahead.
